Pedals Test Mettle Of Oz Riders

Newcastle Herald

Friday April 20, 2007

GR

CYCLING enthusiasts can catch

all of the action from the 2007

Tour of Flanders as the event, held

in Belgium from April 2 to April 5,

is aired on SBS this week.

Also known as the Ronde Van

Vlaaderen spring classic, the tour

has cobbled sections and hills, and

runs over three days and four stages

over a gruelling 549 kilometres.

The proximity of the race route

to the North Sea coastline means

strong winds could splinter the

pack.

This means if the competitors

don't get themselves into the

right group they could fall out of

contention quickly.

Australians competing in the

event include Allan Davis, Baden

Cooke, Mathew Hayman, Matthew

White and Matthew Wilson.

The Tour Of Flanders 2007, on

SBS, Sunday, from 11am.
